Nyeleti Consulting is a firm of consulting engineers which was formed on 1 August 1999. The word Nyeleti, meaning star, symbolises the aspiration of the firm to deliver excellent services to its clients. The star symbol, therefore, has been incorporated as one of the elements of the logo of the company. In line with the commitment to deliver an excellent service the following slogan has been adopted: Engineered to excel.

The approach being followed by Nyeleti Consulting is to add value to the business and projects of its clients. Nyeleti assists clients throughout the total project cycle, ranging from needs analysis and problem definition stages to the development of appropriate solutions, design and implementation, as well as operation, maintenance and management of infrastructure.

Nyeleti Consulting continuously aims to:

  • provide professional services to clients by developing appropriate solutions to their needs;
  • contribute towards addressing the needs of disadvantaged communities;
  • reinforce government's initiative of development of small/emerging enterprises;
  • create opportunities for the professional development of its staff; and
  • render satisfactory returns on the investment made by its shareholders.

Nyeleti Mentoring Programme

Mentoring programme

The Nyeleti Consulting mentorship programme has been set up with the objective of building the training and development of engineers, technologists and technicians as to enable them to register professionally.

The Nyeleti mentorship programme prepares candidates for professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as:

  • professional engineers
  • professional technologists
  • professional technicians.

Nyeleti Mentoring Programme

The outcome will be the professional registration of staff participating in the programme.

The programme is aimed at all staff members who obtained the relevant academic qualifications (B Eng, B Tech or N Dip) and who need to undergo a period of practical training within the workplace, in order to gain the necessary experience to enable them to successfully submit an application for registration.

As part of Nyeleti’s transformation plan, an Empowerment programme has been set up to assist staff to gain the necessary skills and allowing them to realise their true potential.

Precious Ledimo is also part of Nyeleti's Empowerment Programme and is currently furthering her studies through UNISA.

Skills development

Nyeleti Consulting skills development initiatives:

  • Two full-time civil engineering students at university, one of them black.
  • Sixteen staff members enrolled for post graduate/diploma courses, thirteen of them black of which two are female.
  • Two learnerships, one of them black.

Ownership of the company

Nyeleti is a majority black owned company. Total black shareholding is 51.0% and total female shareholding 11.6%.

The QMS demonstrates the company’s ability to consistently provide professional services that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations, and address customer satisfaction, continual improvement and the prevention of nonconformity through the effective application of the system.


Nyeleti Consulting accepts responsibility for any harmful effects its operations may have on both the local and global environment and is committed to minimising such impacts once the necessary mechanisms are put in place in the industry. Nyeleti will measure its impact on the environment and set targets for ongoing improvement. Nyeleti will also comply with all relevant environmental legislation. The key points of our strategy to achieve this include the following:

  • Application of energy efficiency principles in any infrastructure being designed by Nyeleti.
  • Minimising waste by evaluating operations and ensuring efficiency as far as possible.
  • Actively promoting recycling both internally and amongst our customers and suppliers.
  • Meeting or exceeding all environmental legislation that relates to the company.

Sustainability and environmental practice

Nyeleti is committed to preserving the environment and reducing the carbon footprint. Where appointed by clients to design buildings we encourage them to implement green building design principles. To date, Nyeleti successfully implemented green building design principles on the office buildings on both the Medupi and Kusile Power stations of Eskom.
