Mr Mphikeleli Abednigo (Abe) Thela is a professionally registered Civil Engineer and the Executive Chairperson of Nyeleti Consulting (Pty) Ltd with over 32 years post graduate experience mainly in Consulting Engineering.

His experience ranges from design, contract documentation and administration gained in projects executed for both the public and private sector clients. He was the team leader for the audit of the implementation and construction progress of the new Soccer City Stadium worth over R3 billion in construction value.

Mr Thela was the president of Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) in 2014 and 2015 and during the same period he also represented CESA at the Construction Sector Charter Council (CSCC). He is the current deputy president of Fidic Africa as well as a fellow of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (MSAICE) and SA Academy of Engineers (SAAE).

Sundran Naicker is a Professional Engineer specializing in geometric road design, transportation and road infrastructure projects. He has successfully managed a variety of projects and has been responsible for all relevant aspects, which include project management, design, contract documentation and procurement, site and head office supervision, budgeting and cost control.

Sundran’s experience which spans a period of more than 20 years’ ranges between Municipal Road Infrastructure (including public transport) to National Road infrastructure.
Sundran is past chairperson of the Transportation Division of SAICE (2007 and 2008), a Fellow of SAICE, Member of the South African Association of Consulting Engineers and past president of South African Institution of Civil Engineering for 2017.

As CEO of Nyeleti, Sundran is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company. He is also extensively involved in the day to day operations with regard to financial management, business development and transformation strategy. He has developed a rapport with his clients across various spheres of government and the private sector and continues to contribute to the development of the construction sector and the civil engineering profession.

Rajan Padavattan has extensive experience in Pavement and Materials, Procurement, Contract Administration, Construction and Project Management in both the Public and Private sector.

He also specializes in contractual claim evaluation, Dispute Resolution and Dispute Adjudication Board. Rajan is a registered Engineering Technologist with Engineering Council of South Africa , a Professional Construction Project Manager and a Professional Construction Manager with South African Council for Project & Construction Management Professionals (SACPCMP) and a Fellow with the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE).

Stephen has a wide range of experience in the structural design field. This includes the design of new bridge structures, bridge inspections, bridge management systems and the rehabilitation and repair of structures, as well as piled foundations, sport pavilions, community centres and earth retaining structures. Stephen specialized in bridge engineering and has completed various bridge engineering projects successfully.

He is co-author of “Standard specifications for the rehabilitation of concrete bridges” (CSRA Series 10 000) renamed later to COLTO: Series 12 000. He was a bridge expert panel member of the COTO committee responsible to compile the draft TMH 19: Manual for the visual assessment of road structures. He is certified by SANRAL as a senior bridge inspector.

Stephen is a member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (MSAICE), The International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) and a member of the Concrete Society.

Francois Le Roux has extensive experience in the investigation, design and construction of road pavement rehabilitation, industrial flooring new and rehabilitation, materials design including concrete and other, geotechnical investigations and project management. Francois has gained valuable experience in industrial floor rehabilitation and design and enjoys the challenges presented by new technology and the possibilities that these bring to ensure clients have the best possible solutions for their distinct projects.

Francois also developed and implemented Nyeleti Consulting’s mentorship program for which they won the CESA award for the mentoring company of the year for 2014. He also embraces industry involvement and is currently involved with the Society of Asphalt Technology. He was also the past vice president of the Concrete Society of South Africa.

With multiple post graduate qualifications in both the Structural and Water Engineering disciplines, Gengan Govender is a Professional Engineering Technologist with over 25 years of experience in the Built Environment industry.

His vast and varied experience includes inter-alia bridge and building inspection and rehabilitation works, bridge management systems, bridge design and hydrology, water supply and reticulation design, township development design, rural and urban roads, contract documentation, structural concrete and steel design, CAD design and detailing.

He has also specialized in construction supervision and project management and has completed a number of various multi-disciplinary projects of varied magnitude and complexity successfully. In addition to his general technical abilities, he currently fulfils the additional responsibility as the company’s Corporate Quality Manager.

Gengan is a registered Professional Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and a Member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (MSAICE).

Leshna Naicker has in depth knowledge and exposure in various roles of HR practices. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Psychology.

Leshna has 21 years of experience which is primarily in the Consulting Engineering industry. She also has extensive experience in mentorship programmes and is currently the transformation manager on two of Nyeleti’s flagship projects known as Mokolo Crocodile Water Augmentation Project Phase 2 and Berg River Voelvlei Augmentation Schemes. People are her passion and she brings a softer dynamic to the board.

Francois has experience in management of roads & storm water, civil and water construction projects, first as site engineer and site agent and now as Project Engineer and Technical Director. Experience includes road construction materials, site procedures, contractual matters, resource management, measurement, project management and payments.

Francois has also experience in the design of road projects and has been involved in the design of turn-key and labour intensive projects.

He has also twenty years’ experience in the project field and worked in Namibia for six months.
Francois is a registered Engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa.

Piet Willemse is an experienced Structural and Civil Engineer based in Pretoria, South Africa. He was previously employed by a Power Utility in South Africa serving 40 000 MW for 20 years in their design office. In this capacity he was responsible for the design and investigation of Power Station plant structures, and commercial -and residential developments.

In 1999 a former colleague Ricky Coetzee and Piet founded C3 Specialists South Africa, specialists in the Power Station, and Industrial Engineering field. In early 2014 C3 Specialists merged with Nyeleti Consulting. He has more than 39 years’ experience in Industrial -and Power Station Engineering and Residential Developments. Piet is highly skilled and has extensive experience in heavy industrial engineering, power station plant structures, chimneys, cooling towers, residential developments, concrete technology, and GPR, destructive and non-destructive investigations.

He is an ECSA registered professional engineering technologist, member of CICIND (an international institution for chimney designers, suppliers, and contractors) and Cement and Concrete SA (Cemcon). He has presented technical papers on chimneys at International CICIND Conferences.

Pieter is a professional civil engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the planning, design and implementation of bulk water supply and sanitation projects, urban storm water management, municipal services, rural water supply and sanitation, mine water management, international donor funded projects, public private partnerships (PPPs) as well as construction management and supervision.

Pieter has extensive experience in mine water management and has worked on mine water related projects for among others Anglo American, Lonmin, South 32, Glencore, Vale, Barrick Gold, ARM, Universal Coal and Tharisa Minerals. He has worked on projects throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and is fully acquainted with several conditions of contract as well as standard / general specifications.

Pieter also acts as an external examiner for Master’s Degrees to the Department of Civil Engineering at the Stellenbosch University.
